Children impatiently wait for the summer vacations to arrive, only to eventually nag their parents that there is nothing for them to do. Outdoor activities are a great way to prevent your kids from being stuck in front of the screens all day long. If you hope to keep your kids entertained with exciting things to do during summer vacations, we have a few suggestions.
Here are six fun outdoor activities for kids:
Create an Obstacle Course
A great way to provide hours of entertainment while also keeping the kids active is to create an obstacle course for them in the backyard. You don’t even have to make any purchases! Use the toys and games your kids already have, along with the things in your house, to create a fun course.
Add in some jump ropes, hula hoops, and other such exciting items to make this obstacle course more attractive to the kids. You can do this once or twice every week, depending on their level of interest.
Throw a Frisbee
Playing frisbee is another excellent way to keep your kids entertained and active. Best of all, it is fun for the entire family. You can either play it in your backyard or head over to the nearest park to play in more space.
Enjoy Flashlight Tag
This thrilling game is played at night and combines tag with hide-and-seek. The person who is looking does the counting and tries to find the others with a flashlight in hand.
The other players can move around and change their hiding spots. When the searcher spots someone, they have to flash their flashlight at them to call them out. A great way to get them tired out and ready to bed without any nagging.
Start a Lemonade Stand
Nothing like a good old lemonade stand to truly enjoy the summers. Help your kids prepare the lemonade and set up a table with a few signs to start their stand. This is a great way to help your kids learn about handling money.
Not sure about lemonade? Try homebaked cookies, kool-aid, iced tea, or popsicles. Your kids will be thrilled to earn some money after a day of hard work.
Do Some Gardening
Gardening is a great way to help kids enjoy and appreciate nature. You can help them plant different flowers, herbs, veggies, or even trees. This helps enhance their environmental awareness, sensory development, and hand-eye coordination.
Go Creative with Bubble Wands
Blowing bubbles is a traditional way for children to have some fun with water. Make it more fun by using slotted spoons, spatulas, and even fly swatters to make the bubbles. Your kids will have a great time seeing which utensils can create amazing bubbles.
Summer vacations are a time for entertainment and fun. You can make it more engaging by encouraging them to go outside and enjoy exciting games and activities. You can even enroll them in a vacation camp to make the summer a fascinating one.
