Ms. Cathie is the Assistant Director at Mt. Elizabeth Academy. A native of Toronto, Canada, Ms. Cathie is a Canadian at heart; however, she has happily called Georgia home since 1992. She and her husband David have been blessed with a blended family of three beautiful children and two wonderful grandchildren. When she isn’t working with teachers and students at Mt. Elizabeth you can find her working in her large organic year-round vegetable garden and creating fun “fairy dish gardens” complete with fairies and gnomes. Meditation and the Lord play a big part in Ms. Cathie’s life. She has attended the same meditation class for the last 20 years and is a strong believer in having balance in life.
Ms. Cathie has a passion for children, and has many years of experience teaching children in her church as well as volunteering at Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital, where she was trained to work with children in their Cancer Center. In addition, she has over twenty years of business management experience that she uses to help run and maintain a vibrant and healthy balance with the business side of Mt. Elizabeth Academy. Ms. Cathie can be seen pouring her love into the children of Mt. Elizabeth Academy throughout her day.
Her favorite children’s book is “The Napping House” by Audrey Wood.
For the past thirteen years, Ms. Tenah has worked in childcare. She has worked with children of all age groups from six weeks up through the elementary years.
Ms. Tenah has earned her CDA (Childcare Development Associate) Credential. Throughout her years of teaching, she has been able to continue her education and professional growth. She has implemented lesson plans for child development and created activities that allow children to learn and have fun at the same time. She believes that free play allows children to learn through play and to show their individuality. She loves to see how children grow, develop, and think. She thinks children are like butterflies in the wind. She realizes that some can fly higher than others but each one flies the best he or she can. Each one is different, each one is special, and each one is beautiful.
In her free time, Ms. Tenah loves to do decorative interior design. It is her second passion. She also enjoys Music and Yoga. One day, she would love for her children to visit Israel with her to see where she grew up as a child. She is a goodhearted person who just wants to continue to spread wisdom, peace, and love.
Her favorite children’s book is “Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes” by Eric Litwin.
